HMG was called in to look over billing and to determine whether the practice was making  appropriate Medicare adjustments. Customized report development by HMG allowed the group to identify and re-bill $12,000 in charges that were previously adjusted as non-collectable.

So why develop reports?   Simple reason is to summarize and find errors and trends in the practice.  If you can see that your charges for a given cpt are way below last year and you know nothing has changed, you might want to check with your billing department to figure out why there was a difference.
